Zagreb - In the biggest ever single win by a Croatian in a lottery, a lady from the capital Zagreb has won 17 million Euros ($23 million) in the EuroJackpot lottery.
The identity of the newest millionaire in Croatia is still a mystery as the winner has decided to remain anonymous. According to information from a lottery representative the lady paid online a mere two minutes before the deadline on Friday. She paid around 2 Euros for only one combination of numbers and two minutes later won a grand total of 17,283,822 Euros. At the same time as becoming a multimillionaire she also entered the records books as this was the biggest single win in a lottery in Croatia.
EuroJackpot is a lottery played in 14 different countries through Europe and this is the first time that a Croatian citizen has scooped the top prize. Experts have commented that by buying only one combination the chances of this lucky Croatian woman were around 59 million to one. The EuroJackpot has been won 13 times, six wins went to Germany, two to Finland, one time in Denmark, Norway, Slovenia and Italy and now in Croatia. Around 100,000 people play the EuroJackpot in Croatia every week. The winning combination was 8, 18, 22, 33, 40 with 2 and 8 as the bonus numbers.
