article imageCrimean attorney general captivates Japan with her beauty

Simferopol - While many people around the world have followed the tragic events of the Crimean crisis with sadness, shock, and despair, Japanese internet users have decided to focus on one positive element. The newly-elected attorney general of Crimea is beautiful!
Natalia Poklonskaya, 33, was appointed last week as the new attorney general of Crimea. As RocketNews24 notes, Poklonskaya probably has the most difficult job in the world right now, but netizens in Japan aren't really focused on that. They're focused on her beauty.
According to BBC News, a press conference with Poklonskaya has been been shared numerous times on the internet in Japan. One video in particular, where Poklonskaya listens to a reporter's question, has been viewed nearly 300,000 times since it was posted.
Crimea has voted to secede from the Ukraine and join Russia, but Japanese netizens could care less. They love Natalia. Some love the young, beautiful blonde official so much that they've made manga art and anime fan art of her.
The Japanese are right. Natalia is gorgeous and she kind of does resemble an anime character. But once you've let that all soak in, you may be just as impressed by her resume and qualifications as you are by her beauty. She has served as a senior lawyer Prosecutor General's office trying high profile cases dealing with violence and environmental issues.
Additionally, the 33-year-old has expressed criticism of the opposition protests in the Ukraine, describing the change in government in Kiev as an "unconstitutional coup." In response to her harsh condemnation, the Ukrainian government has launched a criminal case against Poklonskaya and have stripped her of her rank as "counsellor of justice."
Here are some of the things Japanese netizens have been saying via RocketNews24.
She’s just my type!
Ukraine has such a high percentage of devastatingly beautiful women. This is a battle I cannot avoid. Be right back; going to Crimea. [Umm, you might want to rethink that...]
Please cross examine me harshly!
I don’t really know what’s going on, but I back her! Because she’s gorgeous!
She just looks like a child doing cosplay to me.
She’s gifted with both brains and beauty.
Wouldn’t an attorney general be a target for assassination? Scary…
She’s definitely pretty, but I’m more surprised at how young she is!
Summon me for questioning! I’ll tell you everything I know! I’ll even tell you everything I don’t know!
I want her to grab me by the lapels and slap me twice. And when I fall down, I want her to bury her foot into my gut.
Please step on me
The internet can be rather weird. Once you've all stopped ogling Natalia, you can stay up-to-date with the latest news on the Crimean Crisis.
