Egypt’s Sinai rocked as scores killed in deadly clashes

Thirty-six Egyptian soldiers and civilians as well as 38 Islamic State group militants were killed in attacks and clashes in the Sinai Peninsula on Wednesday, security and medical officials said.

The officials said most of those killed by militants were soldiers.

The jihadists attacked checkpoints and engaged in firefights with the army and police in a north Sinai town.
