article imageCanadian government to consider petition on reinvestigating 9/11

A Canadian Parliament member has submitted a petition of behalf of 1400 Canadian signatories asking for a " truly independent investigation in order to uncover the full truth surrounding the events of September 11, 2001."
The Parliamentary petition process requires that the Canadian government respond to the petition within 45 days, or by January 17, 2015. At that time the government must either grant or deny the request.

Canada suffered 24 casualties on 9/11, and 158 Canadian Forces soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since 2002.
At a press conference at the Canadian Parliament by representatives of Rethink 9/11, the organization which sponsored the petition, 9/11 survivors and family members delivered remarks in support of the petition.
Green Party parliamentarian Elizabeth May, who submitted the petition, said that she personally does not agree with it, but that she could not deny Canadians "the right to make their voice heard in Parliament.”

A vigorous debate has been taking place in Canada on the subject of 9/11, with commissioned polls showing 51% of Canadians suspecting that some form of controlled demolition was involved.
Outside of Canada, mostly within the US, another 18,000 people have added their names to the Rethink 9/11 petition. The petition states:
"There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that contradicts the official 9/11 Commission Report and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s reports on the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7 and the Twin Towers, and to which the U.S. government has been unresponsive."
The Rethink 9/11 Facebook page is reaching 20,000 "likes."

A number of US military officers, firefighters, intelligence officers, as well as over 2,000 architects and engineers, the latter led by Richard Gage, a San Francisco architect, have said that the three buildings which disappeared from the New York City skyline in a matter of seconds, could not have done so without sophisticated pre-planted explosives assisting in the destruction. In 2012, Gage's organization 2,000 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth released a 90 minute documentary making the case for pre-planted explosives.
In October, the New York mayoral administration of Mayor Bill de Blasio threw out 26,023 signatures submitted by another group calling for the investigation of events on 9/11, the High Rise Safety Initiative. The Initiative would have required the New York City government to investigate the disappearance within seconds of the third building which fell on 9/11, World Trade Center Building 7. The New York City Clerk claimed that the signatures were invalid, leaving the petitioners no time to review the disqualified signatures in time for the deadline for the ballot to be submitted for printing.

Although neither Rethink 9/11 nor 2,000 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth takes a position on what might have motivated the real perpetrators of 9/11, critics of the official version of events, such as Dr. David Ray Griffin, author of "The New Pearl Harbor," make the case that such a traumatic event was needed to justify the enormous expenditure in money and manpower of the US invasion of Iraq. 9/11 skeptics also point to the steady erosion of individual rights and liberties under the US Constitution, as a goal justified by the events of 9/11.
In the last Superbowl season, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made headlines when he revealed, in an exchange with a US Army four-star general, that he was among those who did not accept the official version of events on 9/11.
In 2010, 9/11 family members began a television ad campaign on New York City television stations raising unanswered questions about 9/11 (see featured video top of article.)
