Death toll from southwest China quake rises to 357: Xinhua

The death toll from a strong earthquake that hit southwest China's mountainous Yunnan province on Sunday has risen to 357, the official news agency Xinhua reported.

The 6.1 magnitude quake struck Zhaotong prefecture at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres at 4:30 pm (0830 GMT), according to the United States Geological Survey.
