News of the “monster mansion party” at a family home in Brampton, Ontario that is still being built went viral on Twitter Friday night. Despite only a few people being invited, Brampton Police estimated 2,000 people crowded into the house, causing an estimated $70,000 worth of damages, according to
NY Daily News.
The house party, situated inside the under-construction mansion on Stanley Carberry Drive, was shut down around 9:30 p.m.,
The Record reports. The home is an upscale neighbourhood near Goreway Drive and Mayfield Road.
One party-goer, who said he is a grade 11 student, said who heard about the party via Twitter, "instantly" wanting to go and “take a look” with his friends. Seventeen-year-old James said by the time they arrived near the Brampton residence with his vehicle, flashing lights from police cruisers could be seen from down the street. “There were dozens of cars and police cruisers and just too many people everywhere,” he said. “We showed up by the time they were breaking things up, but it was chaotic. We just turned around and went home.”
Constable Thomas Ruttan of Peel Regional Police told
The Record the homeowner was present upon police arrival, and there was a large number of assault and public intoxication charges. Several windows were smashed throughout the mansion.
The party was hosted by Canice Ejoh, 17, of Brampton who asked his mother’s permission to invite some friends over,
