West Babylon - St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon is hosting a fundraiser for the restoration of the church, which suffered fire damage last month.
As Digital Journal reported, the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church had suffered a damaging fire on July 21, which resulted in millions of dollars worth of damage, especially on the church's iconography, where many newly-painted religious icons were destroyed.
Parish priest Father Demetrios Kazakis' message regarding the church's fire may be seen on their official Facebook page. "Your parents and support are greatly appreciated," he said, in the Facebook post.
On September 13, 2015, Pop's Seafood Shack and Grill in Island Park, New York, is hosting the restoration fundraiser, in an effort to help bring the church back to its original beauty. It will be a day filled with food, music, raffles, drinks, friends and family.
They have also set up a Go Fund Me campaign to assist in this restoration process, and more details may be obtained by clicking here.
