article imageMy husband left — God never did Special

By Kelly Jadon     Jan 22, 2014 in World
Jeanie Holzmacher has survived divorce because she has depended upon God. How she made it through until today is her testimony that God hears the mother who cries to Him.
Jeanie Holzmacher met her former husband at a Christian college. Together they were raising three daughters. From outward appearances theirs was an ideal family — the dad, a local policeman married to his sweetheart who home-schooled the kids. Together they attended weekly church services.
One day in September 2008, after 22 years of marriage, Jeanie’s ex-husband told her, “I don’t love you anymore.”
On Mother’s Day, 2009 he moved out of his home leaving Jeanie and their daughters alone. Their first response was to gather together and pray for Daddy.
Dr. Helena Mariades, Christian Life Coach, counselor and author states, “The divorce rate in America continues to be above 50 percent. The success rate of first marriages is about 40-50 percent, and second and third marriages are less. The divorce statistic for American evangelicals is about the same.”
Marital status also plays a role in financial debt and comfort. Nearly one-quarter of Americans who have ever divorced say they are in serious debt, compared to the national average of one-sixth of seriously indebted Americans. -Barna Group
Jeanie’s divorce was unexpected, though there had been signs — his distancing himself from the family, her perceiving that something wasn’t quite right. She thought it was his work. He told her, “We’re just busy. I still love you. I’ll never leave you.”
Jeanie knows now that the Holy Spirit was letting her know that he would leave. Jeanie’s ex-husband had been planning his move for five years.
Devastated and without income, she hid in her closet and cried, while maintaining a strong outer presence for her girls. Jeanie felt as if there was a dark cloud above her head, and she felt blinded. She decided to become intentional about what God’s Word meant; everything she had ever learned from the Bible came back to her. Jeanie cried out to God for help, and He began to lead her.
Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, In His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom ; He will gently lead the nursing ewes. Isaiah 40:11 (NASB)
“God provided and He provided,” Jeanie testifies. Jeanie continued home-schooling. She unashamedly remained in her church leading Awana class and Vacation Bible School.
On Christmas Eve 2008, Jeanie attended a party where she bumped into an old acquaintance. He too had gotten divorced unexpectedly. Crushed, the fellow had attended Divorce Care in a local church. He recommended that Jeanie attend.
Divorce Care is a national organization, providing recovery help and support around the country to both adults and children.
Since 2008, Jeanie has forgiven her ex-husband, even though he doesn’t speak to her. She has moved on with a brand new career, seen a daughter married, another in university, and remarried herself.
Few options for employment were available to the stay-at-home mom, but Jeanie had previously enjoyed working in direct sales and knew that she could handle that venue. Trying It Works! Global, a growing body wrap company, she signed on as an individual distributor.
Founded on biblical principles, It Works! fit with Jeanie’s faith. The company encourages a debt-free lifestyle and Jeanie is working toward that goal.
With 12 years in business It Works! Global has been listed in Inc 500 as one of the fastest-growing private companies; they have been debt free since 2008.
Projected to become a billion dollar company by the end of 2014, It Works! products are now available in 14 countries.
Looking back, Jeanie knows that God did not approve of the divorce, but He allowed it to happen. The experience has made Jeanie stronger, teaching her to have no fear and complete obedience to Him. She believes that with God she will be prepared for what’s to come.
