article imageLego's monsters and zombies 'tools of Satan,' says Polish priest

By Sean Fraser     Apr 1, 2014 in World
A Polish priest has a dire warning for parents: Lego's new line of Monster Fighters and Zombies figures are tools of Satan that can destroy your children's souls.
Father Slawomir Kostrzewa made this claim during a presentation aimed to educate parents about dangerous toys.
Kostrzewa claims that the figures "were about darkness and the world of death," citing specific figures, such as Lord Vampyre, a Dracula-like character that wants to "cloak the world in darkness."
"These toys can have a negative effect on children," Kostrzewa said. "They can destroy their souls and lead them to the dark side."
Kostrzewa cited a study from New Zealand that showed that Lego characters' faces were becoming meaner and angrier as proof that the figure were bad influences on children.
"Friendly fellows have been replaced by dark monsters," Kostrzewa said.
Lego's Monster Fighters line of toys includes versions of classic monsters such as the Wolf Man, Frankenstein's Monster, The Creature from The Black Lagoon, and The Mummy. They are pitted against Monster Fighters like Dr. Rodney Rathbone, a take on famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing.
Lego also has a zombie figure included in their MiniFigures collections that wields a leg of meat and a shovel.
This isn't the first time Kostrzewa has rallied against the toy industry. He already made statements against Hello Kitty and My Little Pony, saying of the latter that they were "a carrier of death."
