ISIS vows to take down Rome

On Monday, Catherine Herridge reported to Fox News television channel the new stunning threats recently made by the militant terrorist group ISIS. In the video now appearing the Fox news Facebook page Herridge referred the threat as a direct threat to Christians worldwide,

“It’s a way of saying, ‘We’re putting a target on the back of Christians,’”

The video’s makers identified themselves as the Tripoli Province of the Islamic State group. In the video, several men in orange jumpsuits were seen laying on the ground and they were then beheaded simultaneously. One of the militants in the video makes direct reference to Rome, saying the group now plans to “conquer Rome. During the video, one of the militants stood with a knife in hand and stated the plans throughout the video

“Safety for you crusaders is something you can only wish for. And we will conquer Rome, by the will of Allah.”

The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, condemned the beheadings when he released a statement from the Vatican:

“They were killed simply for the fact that they were Christians,”

The new threat came only hours after the group reportedly release a video that showed the graphic footage of the alleged beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians. The video was released by Libyan militants claiming loyalty to the group ISIS. The Egyptian government and the Coptic church both have declared the footage of the beheadings to be authentic.

The release of the video has been declared despicable by American authorities and the U.S. press secretary Josh Earnest was quoted by FOX news website stating the killings were “despicable” and “cowardly,” adding that the group’s barbarity “knows no bounds.” After the Egyptian government declared seven days of mourning the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi released this statement;

“These cowardly actions will not undermine our determination. Egypt and the whole world are in a fierce battle with extremist groups carrying extremist ideology and sharing the same goals.”

The Egyptian president also stated he reserved the right to retaliate against the attacks. Within 24 hours after the beheading video was released the Egyptian president followed through with his threat of retaliation. In the early morning hours that followed Egyptian jets bombed the Islamic State, the predawn attack targeted ISIS weapon storage areas, training camps, and militant sites. A link provided by U.S. Reuters shared how the Egyptian military released a statement after the bombings;

“And let those near and far know that the Egyptians have a shield that protects and preserves the security of the country, and a sword that eradicates terrorism,”

It is also noted the Egyptian country is only 500 miles from the country of Italy. With the new threat that has been released towards Rome and the heart of Catholic church and what some call the center of Christianity, is it possible that the terror group ISIS now has a direct affiliate within just a mere 500 miles of the southern tip of Italy?
