British lawmakers Tuesday authorized
The Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014, which amends the Communications Act, passed previously in 2003.
In essence, the law treats pornography produced in the United Kingdom destined for Internet release the same as if the content were to be turned into a DVD and sold in stores.
Now, pornography that's produced in the U.K. must adhere to guidelines set forth by the British Board of Film Censors, and
that includes a litany of new restrictions on which kind of porn film makers may produce.
Among the new restrictions, no longer may U.K.-produced porn feature:
Spanking
Caning
Aggressive whipping
Penetration by any object "associated with violence"
Physical or verbal abuse (regardless of if consensual)
Urolagnia (known as "water sports")
Female ejaculation
Strangulation
Facesitting
Fisting
The new rules go far to curb "rough" or "hardcore" sex filmed in the U.K., and make no distinction as to whether or not the sex is consensual. Some adult film producers have argued the
regulations unfairly target women.
Interestingly, the
new limits make no effort to prevent Brits from consuming that kind of material, as the regulations only pertain to adult content produced in the U.K.
