On Wednesday, former Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) gave a public speech at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. The Republican representative was asked what he thought of presidential candidate Ted Cruz and the former speaker did not hold back.
Boehner described Cruz as “Lucifer in the flesh” and added he had never worked with a “more miserable son of a bitch in my life.” He also said Cruz will become president “over my dead body.”
The Satanic Temple is a organization opposed to all religion and promotes a humanistic approach based upon reason and compassion. And if the spokesperson is any example, temple members are not huge Cruz fans.
Spokesman Lucien Greaves told Huffington Post that Christianity is problematic. Greaves said activities by Christians that are bad should not be blamed on Satanic philosophy. He accused Boehner of believing if something good happens it is related to Christ; if it’s bad, it is associated with Satan and Lucifer.
Greaves also said he didn’t think Boehner was actually saying Cruz was Lucifer because all politicians are “simple-minded people.”
About Cruz specifically, Greaves said,”Cruz’s failures of reason, compassion, decency, and humanity are products of his Christian pandering if not an actual Christian faith.” The temple spokesman went to say it was tedious that pedophile priests and “loathsome politicians” are dismissed as Satanic when they prostate themselves before the cross and spew biblical verses.
In response to Boehner’s comments, Cruz said he never “did work” with the former speaker and regarding the Lucifer comment, he said Boehner “allowed his inner Trump to come out.”
