Pacquiao ranks No.1 in Pulse Asia awareness rating

This means that only one out of 100 respondents covered in the survey isn’t aware of Pacquiao, who is coming off an impressive win over Timothy Bradley in their trilogy fight last April 9.

The survey which was conducted for ABS-CBN covers 4,000 respondents nationwide using a multi-stage probability sampling in a face-to-face interview.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson came in second in the awareness ranking with 98 percent followed by former senators Kiko Pangilinan and Migz Zubiri in third place with 96 percent. Senators Frank Drilon and former senator Dick Gordon were tied at 95 percent at fourth place while former justice secretary Leila de Lima and Sen. Ralph Recto took the fifth spot with 94 percent each. Click here to view the survey results.

While almost all of the respondents know Pacquiao, only 35.7 percent expressed their preference to vote for him if elections were held at the time of the survey.

In contrast, 51 percent of the respondents expressed their preference to vote for former senator Frank Drilon, who has a lower awareness rating of 95 percent.

This goes to show that popularity does not necessarily translate to actual votes in the case of Pacquiao and Drilon. Actress Alma Moreno, who has a high awareness rating of 94 percent, had only 9.9 percent of the respondents expressing preference to vote for her.

Despite his relatively low voting preference based on his 99 percent awareness rating, Pacquiao’s ranking in recent surveys has been moving up with Pulse Asia’s rival SWS placing him at No.3 in its latest survey.
