The Associated Press says Trump now has the dubious distinction of being the first president since Richard Nixon to fire an official currently investigating the office of the president. But what really strikes home is that Donald Trump is an extremely dangerous man — and Trump is one person you don’t want to be angry at you.
The reason for Trump’s firing Comey, so he says, is because of his handling of the Hillary Clinton emails; but all of us, Democrats, and Republicans are finally beginning to understand that emails had nothing to do with Comey’s firing. The investigations into the Trump campaign and the campaign’s possible collusion with Russia is now getting too darned close to home for him.

What was really getting under Trump’s skin was former acting Attorney General Sally Yates’ testimony at the Congressional hearing the day before. Yates was, in my opinion, the most forthcoming and honest person I have heard yet to come out of all the hearings on the Russia connection.
The problem now for Trump is that he has made the question of his campaign’s collusion even more questionable in many people’s eyes. He will not be able to get rid of the problem by firing people. And quite frankly, it is good to see a few of our lawmakers finally showing that they have some “you know what” when it comes to standing up and acknowledging that this so-called president may actually be doing something wrong.
Maybe now, Congress will stop pussy-footing around over the Trump family’s obvious and brazen use of the office of the presidency for their own personal gains. This really is a conflict of interest, yet most lawmakers seem to be afraid to say anything about it. Maybe it is time they spoke up for the American people.
I have said it before, and I will say it again, the office of President of the U.S. is not the corporate boardroom and simply because the Donald ran his business empire by imposing his will and way on his employees, this country cannot, and hopefully will not allow him to take us down this rocky road he has created because it will only lead to destruction.
And if Congress continues to back off from confronting Trump, then we had better get someone up there that will do something. Because if we don’t stop this maniac, only God knows what will happen.
Jimmy Gurule, a law professor at Notre Dame, and a former assistant attorney general who was appointed by President George H.W. Bush, said Trump’s decision “threatens our democracy and undermines the integrity of the FBI investigation.” I can’t say it any better.
