Op-Ed: Hillary Clinton easily accessible if you are rich

In the last two weeks of August alone Clinton held 22 fund-raising events that brought in roughly $50 million dollars, or an average of about $150,000 an hour. In all of August she managed to raise $143 million. She has fielded plenty of questions from the rich in locations such as the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard and Silicon Valley. Jay Jacobs, a prominent New York Democrat said: “It’s the old adage, you go to where the money is.” In a single event, in Sagaponack N.Y., 10 people paid a minimum of $250,000 each to raise a cool $2.5 million.

To business people who complain that Obama has not been too friendly to business interests, Clinton claims she would be more like her husband who was widely considered friendly to the private sector. When asked about banking regulations, she notes that she represented the banking industry as a senator. On her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership(TPP) among twelve Pacific Rim countries, she notes that she has in the past supported trade deals including the TPP. In 2012, in a speech in Australia, Clinton said of the TPP that it “sets the gold standard in trade agreements to open, free, transparent, fair trade, the kind of environment that has the rule of law and a level playing field.” Given that the deal is at present unpopular — and the need to attract Bernie Sanders supporters — Clinton has changed her tune at least for now.

Even children under the age of 16 were able to ask Clinton one question — that is, if their parents provided a donation of $2,700 during an event last month at the Sag Harbor N.Y. estate of the hedge fund big shot Adam Sender. A family photo with Mrs. Clinton was a mere $10,000 according to some who attended. Also, last month, to dine with Hillary and receive a photo with her at the Beverly Hills house of Haim Saban an entertainment executive cost a cool $100.000. Lady Lynn Forest de Rothschild a friend of the Clintons also hosted a $100,000 per couple lamb dinner, in a big tent on the lawn of her mansion at her Martha’s Vineyard mansion. De Rothschild said: ‘Let’s make it a nice night for her and show her our love.”

Trump’s candidacy has allowed Clinton to reach out to some rich Republicans among the rich of the Hamptons. Ken Sunshine a Democratic activist and public relations executive said: “The Hamptons is full of powerful, wealthy people who are bored and go to constant social events to see who else got invited and to show your status, This year going to a Clinton event is at the very top of the list.” If you want to meet and talk with Hillary it is quite simple assuming you have plenty of money to spare.
