In a press conference organised during a sunny day at Burrard Inlet of North Vancouver, Claire Martin, associated by the party leader Elizabeth May and a few other party members said that being and voting green has always been her way. Martin, who is a native of Britain, came to Canada more than 20 years ago and started to work for Environment of Canada. She was also a very familiar and likeable face in CBC country wide news program “The National”.
Martin, as a scientist sends a clear message that she has an undeniably unambiguous understanding of where Canada is going when it comes to environment and its protection.
“People trust me. That’s why federal Green Party leader came to me at the very beginning. I think, quite frankly, that’s how I built a career. I was not trained to be on TV. But I won people over by being honest and a little bit likeable.”
North Vancouver is now represented by federal Conservative Andrew Saxton, who won with 49 percent of the vote in 2011. The Liberals here finished with 30 percent and the NDP third with 16 percent. The Greens were fourth with 5 percent. In a separate statement, Andrew Saxton welcomed Claire Martin as a candidate in the upcoming elections.
