Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau to spice up 2015 APEC Summit in PH

The newly sworn in Canadian prime minister is proceeding to Manila from Turkey where he will attend the G20 Summit on Nov. 15 and 16.

At the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Trudeau will participate in the discussions on various matters in the agenda including global economy, anti-corruption efforts, energy crises, environmental concerns and refugee crises.

In Manila, Trudeau will join key leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) in their 2015 Economic Leaders Meeting scheduled for Nov. 18-19.

Among others, Trudeau “will work with his counterparts to promote sustainable economic growth, with a focus on small and medium enterprises, and to enhance social inclusion and institution building.”

“Canada supports APEC’s open trade agenda and welcomes the work it does to increase prosperity, including opportunities it creates for Canadians. I look forward to working with APEC leaders to further strengthen trade and investment for the region, while addressing human development and environmental challenges.” Trudeau said ahead of the APEC meeting in Manila.

Canada is a founding member of the APEC, a 21-nation economic forum that was organized in 1989. The 21 Asia-Pacific nations represent 2.8 billion people and over half of the world’s gross domestic product.

The 2015 APEC Summit will give Trudeau a rare opportunity to meet face-to-face most of the leaders of the 21-nations participating.

While in Manila, the youthful Canadian prime minister needs to find a way not to disappoint his adoring fans who are mostly women eager to give him a hug or a kiss.

Trudeau, who was sworn in as Canadian Prime Minister less than two weeks ago, will be surprised to find out that he has many fans in the Philippines who are expected to join him for a selfie if his security will allow.

Known for gender equality, Trudeau’s first official acts as prime minister was to form his Cabinet with women comprising 50 percent of his appointment. Asked why gender balance is important, Trudeau said: “Because it’s 2015.”

During and after the campaign, Trudeau — who is the eldest son of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau — was spotted in a mall having selfies with people who recognized him as their candidate and new prime minister. The sight was particularly endearing to his “fans” not only in Canada but also in the Philippines.

Aside from his good looks, Trudeau has also a great educational background though not related to politics. The popular Canadian leader has a BA in English Literature from McGill University and a BEd from the University of British Columbia. He was a teacher by profession before entering politics.

Photos circulating in the Internet showing Trudeau in a topless pose earned his fans not only in Canada but elsewhere in the world.

“US Magazine found one Twitter user saying, ““Congrats to Canada for electing the first edible prime minister,” Kickerdaily.com writes.

“Heads up, Canada just got sexy,” commented social media user Kelly.

“My girlfriends and I are all moving to Canada because GOD DAYUM,” wrote another Trudeau fan.

Trudeau may not be aware but he has also many fans in Manila who will find a way to come near him for a hug or a selfie.
