Mr. Obama, often criticized for
taking too many vacations, told reporters at the White House that he was ready "to not have a suit on for a while.” However, he is slated to
headline a Democratic fundraiser on the island Monday evening.
Mr. Obama and his family will reportedly stay in a swanky rented vacation house in the town of Chilmark.
Meanwhile, Hamas has continued its rocket attacks against Israel and Israel has continued its retaliatory air strikes.
In Iraq, American pilots are conducting air strikes in an attempt to protect minorities that have been driven from their homes by Islamic militants. Most of the Christians and other Iraqis of minority religions were routed from their homes and driven like cattle into the mountains before Mr. Obama belatedly called for U.S. air strikes.
Islamic State militants, who have imprisoned hundreds of Iraqi women of minority religions, have also seized control of much of the country, including Mosal, the second largest city in Iraq.
Back at home, unaccompanied undocumented teens and children from South American countries
continue to overwhelm border patrol agents as the administration whisks them away by bus to different states.
Despite nearly 60,000 children and an unknown number of adult illegal immigrants crossing over, Mr. Obama has refused to visit the U.S. Southern border.
Saturday, just two days after calling for limited airstrikes in Iraq, Mr. Obama back-tracked and called for a long-term campaign to fight Iraq's spreading jihadist crisis.
Mr. Obama at the same time pledges there will be "no boots on the ground." however, military experts say there is little chance of turning the tide against Islamic State fighters and jihadists in Iraq without conducting a major ground war.
