Watch made from Swiss cheese is selling for $1 million

The brand created the new watch using Vacherin Mont d’Or, a special assortment of cheese. Special resins cover the surface, which is to ensure the watch is resistant to shocks. The cheese in the watch doesn’t sink due to it being pasteurized.

There’s a new law that affects Swiss watches producers. The design is a way for the brand to protect against that law.

The law that is being protested requires 60 percent of watch producers’ parts to have been produced domestically. Edouard Meylan, H. Moser’s CEO, said his company’s watch sends a clear message to the industry and authorities. He said the message was that the Swiss Made label is meaningless.

Meylan added that the watch gives credibility to the worst abuses in the watch making industry. He said their response to the label is derision.

Meylan said that some do see regulations surrounding the Swiss Made label as being an improvement, but he said the Swiss Made label is not as strong as it once was. He said he believes the Swiss Made label is deceiving and it gives brands the legitimacy to overprice their products.

Meylan added that the Swiss Made label has been removed from their dials for their new collections and that the Swiss Made label gives customers a false perception about a Swiss made watch and the reality of what’s actually made in the country.
