article imageSwiss tourists having sex on the run fined for no seat belt

By Anne Sewell     Aug 23, 2014 in Odd News
Ibiza - Earlier in August on the swinging island of Ibiza there were three married couples from Switzerland, merrily having sex in the back of a van as it drove along. Police officers stopped the van and a routine breathalyzer test did not go quite as expected.
Police officers in Sant Josep on the party island of Ibiza in Spain's Balearic Islands stopped the vehicle to make a routine breathalyzer test between midnight and half past two in the morning.
It turned out the driver hadn't been speeding and also had not drunk any alcohol. However, what the police officers did find was three Swiss tourist couples, in a state of near undress, having rather lively sex in the back of the van.
The police officers, apparently feeling sorry for the foreigners, did not arrest the three couples on charges of public indecency, choosing instead to fine each of the guilty parties for neglecting to wear a seat belt. The fine for this misdemeanor is a mere €200 ($270) per person.
Fortunately for the Swiss couples, they choose willingly to pay the fines right there on the spot, which meant that the charges were reduced by half. The three couples paid the fine and left, just as if nothing had ever happened.
They were lucky people indeed as the charge for public indecency could have been quite a bit higher. Oh yes, and the driver did get charged for reckless driving.
A local newspaper spoke to the police officers, who said they had previously arrested people for having sex in a car, but had never, in their experience, come across anyone having sex in a moving vehicle, and especially not three couples at once. They did, however, catch three drivers that same night, driving under the influence of alcohol, so not all was lost in the fine department.
