article imageStarbucks barista faces firing over tattoo as small as a penny

By Mike White     Jul 21, 2014 in Odd News
A Starbucks Barista in Michigan has 30 days to remove a tattoo as small as a penny, or she will be fired. She wears the tiny tattoo on her hand.
The woman told MyFoxDetroit she recently received the ultimatum to get rid of the tattoo in 30 days or resign.
“It’s just a little heart; you can cover it up with your thumb,” the barista named Kayla told the station Wednesday. The station did not give her last name.
“It’s not offensive to anyone,” Kayla explained, according to dailynewsen.com. “Now, I am currently being informed immediately after five decades of acquiring this tattoo, becoming hired in that, I have to get rid of it or resign from my position.”
Kayla said she had the tattoo five years ago when she was hired. She added that she had covered it with makeup, but that apparently was not enough to satisfy local management, in Troy, Michigan, according to breakingnewsdir.com.
A Starbucks official told a local television station there is a policy which prohibits employees from having a visible tattoo.
