Bangkok - Passengers were left startled when they discovered a snake on a luggage cart in the arrival hall at Bangkok's main international airport.
Suvarnabhumi International Airport issued an apology for the incident, which occurred over the weekend.
Passengers discovered the snake coiled around the base of the trolley after a person loaded bags onto the carousel and was preparing to leave the arrival hall.
After security was alerted, they captured the snake right away. According to Airports of Thailand, the reptile was a small baby snake and it didn't injure any passengers.
The snake's species wasn't identified, but Thanaphong Tawan, a snake expert, said the snake looked to be of a non-venomous variety called Dryocalamus davisonii.
Airports of Thailand's statement was to reassure strict measures were set into place to prevent poisonous animals from slipping into the airport's buildings. The statement added that the snake managed to get into the airport because it was small.
In another snake related incident, on the island of Phuket, a tourist from China was bitten on their nose by a python. The tourist was leaning in to kiss it on the head while visiting a snake show. That incident also took place over the weekend.
