Randy Santel, 28, an American from St. Louis managed to eat that much food in less than 12 minutes and beat a cafe’s food challenge in the process, reported the Mirror. Nutritionists say an adult male should consume around 2,500 calories every day.
More than 300 people watched as Santel beat the record at Jones’ cafe bistro by more than seven minutes.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Camille Collyer, the owner of the bistro said.
Randy has won 26 of his challenges so far during his tour of the United Kingdom. He has scheduled 20 more such competitions.
His mega-breakfast has been called the Kieran Brookes 666 Challenge.
“It was good to beat the record, the food was really great and the people were really nice,” Santel commented.
Randy kneeled on the ground and wore headphones as he completed the challenge.
Santel called eating the pancakes the “the hardest part” of the challenge, because they were dense and thick.
“My plan was to get those eaten first, then coast away until the end,” he remembered. “The pancakes were good though, I’ve never had anything like them.”
Collyer, said Randy completed the challenge unbelievably fast, “much faster” than he believe he could. He added the competitor “wolfed it down. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Only seven men have completed the challenge before Santel
The establishment began serving the ‘Monster Mega Breakfast’, which comes with six eggs, six sausages, six rashers of bacon, four portions of fried potatoes, two three-egg omelettes, and four portions of mushrooms.
Anyone brave enough to attempt to complete the challenge has an hour to do so.
Someone reading about Randy Santel might never believe an athlete could eat that much food. At least one athlete did.
In July of 2012, before the Summer Olympics, the Daily Mail reported Michael Phelps, who has won 18 gold medals and a total of 22 medals, consumed 12,000 calories a day. He reportedly ate chocolate chip pancakes, three fried egg sandwiches, French toast, grits, and a five egg omelette for typical breakfast and a lot more during the day.
