article imageParents fall off cliff while taking selfie, leave children behind

By Walter McDaniel     Aug 11, 2014 in Odd News
According to reports a couple was taking photos near a cliff while on vacation with their children. While taking a "selfie" with their children they slipped and fell off the edge.
Children are now in the custody of Polish diplomats from their home country. Journalists with the Independent report that the children were there when this happened and saw their parents fall. Psychologists are trying to help the children get over the traumatic experience.
Accidents while taking a selfie have become more common, as in one where a man actually shot himself making a Facebook picture. Since many people want to top others when taking a selfie they go for crazier shots, like one where a man electrocuted himself while posing atop a train.
Both common sense and scientific evidence tell us that the loss of a parent is devastating for anyone. No bodies could be recovered by rescue workers either. Update: Rescuers found the bodies after a continued search. Grieving is an important part of the process that these children will sadly have to go through.
As for the children themselves authorities are doing everything they can to help them recover from this traumatic event. Polish foster care actually has many restrictions to insure that children are treated well. Historically they have also had a focus on quality care in this area so this is some positive news in the midst of terrible tragedy.
