According to
Today, the doll was created after Lamm launched a crowdfunding campaign back in March of last year. The campaign raised $500,000 within the first month.
The campaign was launched just three months after an image of a plus-size barbie
surfaced on Facebook, and that post received thousands of likes and comments.
Lamm said that a lot of toys are in a fantasy world, and he wanted to make a toy that is real because reality is cool.
The doll
comes with stickers that allow you to put some stretch marks, acne or even a scratch on her.
Lamm eventually wants to create a "normal Ken" and maybe add some belly fat and balding, as well as stickers such as chest hair and dirt stains.
More than 13,000 backers
donated to the campaign, and more than 19,000 dolls were pre-ordered. The initial amount Lamm was seeking to raise was $90,000.
The dolls are being sold via Lamm's
website, and people can purchase one for $24.99. Lamm is also hoping to expand the brand even further by adding dolls of different ethnicity and "healthy body shapes."
