A mother and daughter from Florida have returned home days after giving birth to newborn babies only about three hours apart on the same day.
Destinee Martin, 20, and her mother Heather Penticoff, 40, each got pregnant about nine months ago, and were induced Nov. 11 for separate medical reasons.
The mother-daughter tandem birthed a newborn girl and boy, respectively, about two hours and 46 minutes apart.
Baby boy Damien (7 pounds, 9 ounces), and his aunt Madeline (8 pounds, 15 ounces), came home Thursday. The family lives under one roof in Lee County, Fla.
This family boasts a unique family tree, indeed. Ms. Martin has an uncle and two aunts that are younger than she is.
Destinee told local Florida media that she didn't initially love that her mother became pregnant at the same time she did, but has since acknowledged that the ordeal brought her and her mom closer together.
The women reportedly even learned of their respective pregnancies on the exact same day.
"Going through the pregnancy and now having her here to help me is a lot nicer than if it wouldn't have went that way," she was quoted saying.
Ms. Penticoff likened the experience to having twins, and said she was very proud of her older daughter.
"It's a blessing all around," she said, "I'm just proud of her, so proud of Destinee."
