Mosquito trap prompts bomb investigation

By Kevin Fitzgerald     Jul 18, 2014 in Odd News
Rock Springs - A bomb squad was called in to investigate a suspicious device found inside a Wyoming power plant early Wednesday morning. The device in question turned out to be just a common trap used for mosquitoes.
According to Yahoo! News, security personnel at the Jim Bridger Power Plant spotted a device with wires connected to a battery around midnight and alerted the bomb squad.
The Bellingham Herald reports that the bomb squad was able to determine the device was a mosquito trap following an X-ray scan.
The Casper Star Tribune states that the mosquito trap was put in place by an organization known as Sweetwater County Weed and Pest in order to catch and identify certain types of mosquitoes that may be carrying the West Nile virus.
