Update: As reported in the Inquisitr, this story turned out to be a prank.
—
Eventually the irritated man, whose name is actually pronounced “Phoo Da Bic” (hence his confusion) had to send a scanned image of his passport to Facebook to prove his name is, indeed, the real deal.
Phuc Dat Bich has apparently been accused several times of using a “false and misleading name” on the social media platform. He says he finds it very irritating that no one seems to believe him when he says that is his full legal name. According to Newscom.au, Facebook has, in fact, shut his account down three times.
Yahoo News quotes him as saying, “I’ve been accused of using a false and misleading name of which I find very offensive. Is it because I’m Asian? Is it?”
Reportedly the scanned image of his passport is currently going viral on the social media with almost 70,000 shares at the time of writing. Phuc Dat Bich, 23, has also received quite a few comments on his Facebook page, offering him comfort and support in his troubles over his unusual name.
One comment read, “Mate ignore any disbelievers as they are only jealous of your name we think it’s the best name man can have!!” Another guy commented, “Sir, I love your name.”
Reportedly someone has since explained to Phuc Dat Bich why people burst into laughter on seeing his name and also why the social media platform is rather skeptical about the whole thing.
Let’s face it, most of us reading the story about the poor guy will pronounce his name phonetically and giggle about it.
Update: According to a comment from a Vietnamese person on his Facebook page, “in Vietnamese Phúc means Blessing ! Đạt = Success and Bích = Jade.”
