Mount Vernon - A man was driving a Dodge Challenger in Mount Vernon, New York, when he was shot in the head and ended up crashing into a house.
The incident occurred late Friday night around ten at night.
According to News12, witnesses said that the driver's vehicle jumped the curb and crashed right into a home.
Police say that the house wasn't damaged too bad, and the people who occupy the home were able to return later on in the evening.
Even though the man, who was not identified, was shot right in the back of the head, he managed to walk 7-8 blocks to the ER at the Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital.
Sgt. Robert Wuttke said that it was hard to explain why the man's injuries were not as severe as they were.
As of now authorities don't have any suspects, but they did say the victim was known to them. Police said that detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and they urge anyone with information to contact their Detective Division.
This was the city's second shooting in two days. On Thursday a man was shot, and the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and he was taken to Jacobi Center in the Bronx.
The victim said that he was shot by an unknown person while he was standing in the area of 250 S. Fifth Avenue. He was not able to provide a description of the shooter or say which direction he took off in.
