The man, Surjeet Singh, complained to doctors about severe stomach aches. He also said he was suffering from a low appetite. Before receiving a biopsy report, doctors first thought Singh had a tumor.
However, instead of finding a tumor, doctors
found metal inside his body. The metal ended up being knives. Singh had swallowed them because he suffered a disorder that caused him to crave knives.
One of the surgeons, Jitendra Malhotra, said Singh told him he picked up the habit while he was recovering from a traffic accident.
Malhotra said they
spotted metallic material on the screen after they inserted a camera inside Singh's stomach. Inside the materials there are woods and blades that were were and surreal, according to Malhotra. He added that in his 20 years of being a doctor, this was the very first time he has seen something like this.
Singh told the doctors that he had urges to swallow knives. He also told them that he swallowed 28 knives. Doctors
found out Singh was eating knives for at least the last two months.
Singh's surgery was a success but it took five hours for surgeons to remove the knives. At this time, it's not known if Singh is still in the hospital but a few days ago doctors did say he would be released soon.
