The man, whose surname is Yuan, ended up in the hospital on March 24. He was involved in a car accident, but sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and doctors contacted a number of people who they thought were his family members.
After doctors contacted the people, 17 women showed up, and they were all stunned to find out that they were involved with the same man.
One of the man’s girlfriends, Xiao Li, said she was with the guy for more than a year, and she cried so much when she found out he was in an accident. She said she was very worried about him, but as she started to see more and more women showing up, she didn’t cry any more.
Some of the women said they were planning their weddings with Yuan, and one woman even had a son with him. Wang Fang, the mother of their son, said that she doesn’t love him any more.
The women set up a Facebook group, where they have been learning about some of the things that Yuan has been hiding from them.
Police have launched an investigation into fraud allegations, but it’s too early to tell if any of the women were a victim of a scam.
