Port Richey - When four robbers broke into his home, a man in New Port Richey, Florida, called police and was transferred to voice mail.
The four robbers broke into a house in New Port Richey, Florida. Inside they found a man, two women, and a baby. The suspects pistol-whipped one of the women, beat up the other two adults, and threatened to kill the baby if they did not get what they wanted.
According to Pasco County police, suspects Joseph Rich, Michael Reverdes, Steven Reverdes, and an unidentified man broke into the house looking for money and prescription drugs.
“I woke up to them beating me,” the man said.
The chaos truly began once the man called 911. The dispatcher tried to transfer him from the fire department’s line to the police. Unfortunately, the transfer failed and the man was sent to voicemail instead. Ironically, the voicemail message instructed the homeowner to “hang up and dial 911” if it were a real emergency.
When the man was connected to a dispatcher, he said “Somebody just came into my house. Four people just came into my house, they beat the s--t out of me and my wife and stepmother, and they robbed us,”
The homeowner shot Steven Reverdes, one of the robbers, in the back, before he was finally connected to a police officer. The police now have three of the four men in custody.
