Laughing Chewbacca
Candace Payne, 37, a mother of two in Dallas, Texas, who appears to come by joy rather easily, went to her local Kohls department store on Thursday. She was taking back some things and planned to spend money that she’d recently been given for her birthday on exercise clothes or “something for the kids.”
Instead she bought herself a ticket to Facebook Internet fame in the form of a mask of the Star Wars character Chewbacca. Payne said she’s not much of a Star Wars fan but liked the mask, bought it, tried it on in front of her phone’s camera when she got back to her car.
Record Facebook views
She posted a video of her in the mask laughing, it’s about four minutes long, to Facebook, primarily for her family to see. But, well, a few more people than that have viewed it.
Like, as of Saturday morning, try somewhere north of 103 million views — and counting. The BBC notes the previous record for Facebook views was but 10 million. The record had been held by a Buzzfeed video of a watermelon exploding.
“That’s just crazy,” Ms. Payne told the BBC when the views were a mere 48 million. “I’m just laughing – in all honesty, that is ridiculous. I’ve looked at the number of views and it just seems like someone is just playing with a calculator.”
Nope. It’s not just someone playing with a calculator, but a lot of someones watching a joyful person playing, period. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
