A new book claims that the Nazi dictator suffered from a severe form of a disorder known as hypospadias. The condition is characterized by an abnormally small penis, often referred to as a micropenis. Some people also have trouble urinating and may have to do so underneath the penis, making going to the washroom more difficult. Historians Jonathan Mayo and Emma Craigie cite recently discovered medical records as evidence in their publication, Hitler’s Last Day: Minute by Minute. The authors also assert that Hitler took amphetamines, cocaine, and hormones to boost his sex drive.
The new research is likely to create more debate on what kind of sex life or lack-of-one Adolph Hitler had. Some historians suggest he was deathly afraid of catching an infection from sexual activity. The dictator allegedly also feared being seen naked. He did have a long-term girlfriend named Eva Braun, whom he married the day before his death.
The news comes shortly after researchers at the University of Erlangen said they found prison documents confirming Hitler had only one testicle. That condition usually occurs when one or both testicles fail to drop during childhood. Hitler was briefly imprisoned in the 1920s after a failed coup in Germany. Interestingly, British soldiers during the war developed a derogatory song about Hitler’s missing testicle called “Hitler’s only got one ball.” It was based on rumours about the tyrant.
The latest discoveries may fuel speculation on possible reasons for Hitler’s notorious rage and temper. He embroiled Germany in the largest and most deadly war in world history. Hitler’s speeches contained extreme anti-semitism and racism. He approved the mass genocides of various groups. In particular, Hitler authorized an attempt to wipe out the Jews of Europe in the Holocaust.
Hitler ruled Nazi Germany ruthlessly from 1933 until 1945. With Russian forces approaching his bunker in Berlin, Hitler and Eva Braun killed themselves on April 30, 1945. He requested that his body be burned.
