An Ebay user from Sydney sold a scrap paper with "The" written on it for more than $10,000, as of a few days ago. The bidding started back on May 22.
According to UPI, the user, Sweatyman, stressed the versatility of the product, which people started to bid $.99 on, and soon enough there were more than 44 bids that went up to around $10,000 AUD.
According to Huffington Post, the seller said that the word was handwritten with a blue ballpoint pen, that was written on a piece of Reflex A4 paper, and it can be used in many sentences. The seller then gave a few examples of how the word "The" could be used.
According to News, as of today, May 28, the listing has gathered bids of $40,066.00, and the closing date is on Thursday.
A spokeswoman for Ebay said that the listing does appear to be legit, but the chances are the bidder does not plan on paying that much money for the item.
