Expedia apologizes after customer gets note saying “f–k you”

The woman, Cara Viramontes, said she logged onto Expedia’s website a week ago after the website sent her an email informing her that her trip had been cancelled. This was without her consent, she says. She added that when she logged in, she saw the message “f–k you!” in her itinerary.

She said she initially thought it was a joke and that there was no way someone would have written the message. Viramontes said she showed people the message and they all thought it was a joke. She said nobody could believe that a company like Expedia would do something like this.

She said she believes she was sent the message after she lodged a compliant about being charged for travel insurance for her son, who is under the age of one. The child doesn’t need a plane ticket to sit on Viramontes’ lap, so she didn’t need the insurance. Expedia sent her an online survey and she sent it back to them after filling it out.

Viramontes believed the customer service rep wasn’t helpful and she didn’t allow her (Viramontes) to speak to a supervisor. A few days after the phone call to Expedia, Viramontes received the canceled trip, along with the foul message.

Expedia issued an apology and said they take the matter very seriously. The company added they are investigating the incident and analyzing every click and action made by their customer service reps.

Viramontes’ reservation will be re-booked. Expedia is also giving her a $500 voucher for her ordeal.
