article imageCompany apologizes for penis-shaped gummy candy

By Owen Weldon     Sep 15, 2014 in Odd News
A number of parents in New Zealand were outraged when they found out that there were some shops stocked with gummies that were shaped like penises
According to EOnline, shops in the lower South Island had thousands of bags of the Dragon Sweets, which came from China.
One father, Barrie Aburn, said that his three daughters, who are under the age of 10, bought him a bag of the candies to give to him for his birthday. He said his partner, Jacqui Hawkins, took one of the gummies from the bag and when she looked at the candy, she was surprised to see that it was shaped like a penis.
Jack Van de Geest, a spokesperson for the company Dutch Rusk, the candies' importer, said that the candies were recalled as soon as people started to call them and complain about it, according to Inquisitr
Van de Geest said that when the first person complained about it, they thought it was a joke, but they sent the bag to prove it wasn't a joke. He said another call came in and then everything got sent back.
According to Consumerist, about one out of 20-30 included a couple of gummy penises.
The company issued an apology and the remaining bags were dumped. They was also offering free lollipops to customers as a form of compensation.
