KIA dealer in Colorado takes customer’s car for a test drive

Veronica Pief, owner of a Kia Soul, brought her car in for repairs to Windsor’s Peak Kia North. After four days, when she picked her car up and checked the footage caught on the dashboard camera, she felt appalled.

A dealership employee drove her car for almost 200 miles over a period of 17 hours. The video also shows him callously violating a red light and almost causing an accident.

The employee also took the car for running errands and drove it to his house on multiple occasions. Places visited by the employee include McDonald’s, Sam’s Club and a bank.

Expressing her fury at the findings, Pief said to KUSA, “I was very angry to even think that my property was treated this way.”

Pief is also indignant at the rough and careless manner in which the employee revved up her car’s engine.
Pief says that she immediately brought the matter to the dealership’s notice, but there was no satisfactory response from their end at first.

Later Pief demanded that the only acceptable solution for her would be to have the dealership take her car back and pay off the remaining car loan. Peak Kia North soon agreed to the terms.

Peak Kia North Sales Manager, Chelsea Clarke, admitted that the dealership was at fault. However, they have every intention of setting things right with Pief and to retain the trust of customers in general.

Clarke also said that the dealership has taken the decision not only to resolve Pief’s issues with them but also to send a general message to the community at large.

Clarke said, “We have a lot of loyal customers and we just wanted to kind of reinstate that trust with them and show that we are trying to do the right thing.”

Pief appreciates the response she has received from the dealership. The dealership plans to auction her car and donate all proceedings to a local charity.
