CNN mistakes sex toy flag for ISIS flag

CNN International reporter Lucy Pawle was covering the annual Gay Pride event in London and she spotted an unidentified man who looked like he was waving the flag of the Islamic State (ISIS).

The reporter took a few photos of it and then she described the sighting to her colleagues who were back at the CNN studio. She told them how it appeared that nobody seemed to notice the flag nor were there any questions being asked about it.

Pawle decided to alert police officers who were nearby, but they didn’t seem too concerned about it.

Pawle told her colleagues that she seemed to be the only one who spotted the flag and she said that maybe it might be a sublte joke. Back at the studio, CNN brought in Peter Bergen, a national security analyst, and he appeared to be puzzled by the sight. He noted that the event was an odd place to wave an ISIS flag because the group has anti-gay views.

However, the flag wasn’t the flag of ISIS, and it was just a black and white flag with some sex toys on it. Pawle eventually took to Twitter and responded to tweets mocking her by saying that she reported on no such thing. However, she did end up retweeting those who identified what the flag was really all about.
