The incident, captured on CCTV, took place in Sovetsky, located in the the Okrug region. The man's name and age have not been released, but it's said he was a security guard who regularly fed the dogs for the last two years.
However, the security guard attempted to get past the stray dogs without giving them food. In the video, the pack of 12 dogs can be seen circling the man. The man can be seen staggering along the road with a bottle of beer in one of his hands.
As the dogs start to swarm the man, he trips and falls to the ground. He managed to get back to his feet, but he fell two more times before failing to get back up.
Once he was on the ground, the dogs started to maul him. He is seen trying to defend himself by kicking at them, but he was unable to escape from the animals on the pathway. Apparently he died within two minutes after the attack.
The man's remains were found the following morning, which led to police launching an investigation. However, it's not clear whether or not the dogs will be hunted down, nor has Russian authorities confirmed whether the dogs have been caught.
