Police in Canada to punish drunk-drivers with Nickelback

Police in Kensington, Prince Edward Island, announced that drivers arrested while intoxicated will be fined and suspended, which isn’t out of the ordinary. However, they added that they would be forced to listen to Silver Side Up, Nickelback’s 2011 LP.

In a Facebook post, the town police said the bonus gift to those arrested would be Nickelback playing in the cruiser on the way to jail.

The post continued to say there was no need to thank the police because they figured that if drivers are foolish enough to drive while drunk, then the perfect gift for them is Chad Kroeger and the boys.

Constable Robb Hartlen authored the post. Hartlen said they were trying to add a little humor to the serious matter of drinking and driving. He said it sparks conversation and that it pushes that idea that everybody knows, but with a little bit of humor.

He also said he does like some of the songs by Nickelback, but they do take a brunt of the nation’s joke. He did add that he’s sure Nickelback is crying all the way to the bank.

As for Nickelback, it doesn’t seem like they mind being a brunt of jokes. In the past, Kroeger said haters and critics have done them many favors.
