New York - If you cannot find a decent public restroom to relieve yourself, then you will pay top dollar for a cushy seat when the urge strikes. This is what a new startup is betting on.
According to Gizmodo, the startup, Posh Stow and Go is dubbing itself as New York's first members-only day storage and bathroom facility, with membership plans that allow you to pay-as-you-poo.
According to New York Daily, the Pottyplexes will be near Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station, and the unveiling will be in June. People can pay $24 for three days, or pay $60 for 10 days.
According to NY Post, in the past former Mayors Bloomberg and Rudy Giuliani tried setting up a network of street toilets, but those plans were scrapped from various community groups. Some groups claimed that public restrooms would attract vagrants.
Wayne Parks, the founder of Posh Stow and Go, said that he came up with the idea because the city doesn't have a lot toilets for the public.
The private toilets will feature a lunge area with phone-charging station, couches and motion-sensored flushers and faucets.
Parks is hoping that the company will open dozens of the restrooms in Manhattan, targeting travelers and New Yorkers who are venturing out to Manhattan for day trips.
