article imageAli the camel on the lam (again) from Norway circus (Video)

This is apparently the second time in two days that Ali the camel has escaped from the traveling Circus Arnardo. He was discovered by locals, grazing peacefully next to a public highway in Stjørdal.
Apparently this is the same spot he was found a couple of days ago, on his previous sortee from the traveling circus.
Reportedly the circus manager, Are Arnardo, has now increased security measures to stop the camel escaping from his pen. They have even, apparently, hired a guard to keep watch over Ali on a continuous basis.
Arnardo told the local newspaper “Adresseavisen”: “It’s a risk factor when this camel is in such a good shape and that is why we have to take measures. We are also considering putting up even more wire on the circus grounds.”
According to one of the people who spotted the camel on Wednesday, Knut Erlend Jegersen: “Today the camel was almost at the same place as yesterday. A group of people immediately rushed to the site and several cars stopped.”
It seems the camel was only away from the circus for around 15 minutes before he found his own way back home. He merely fancied a walkabout and a taste of fresh grass, perhaps.
However on Tuesday, police had to get involved in getting Ali back to the circus when he was found grazing at a roundabout in the centre of Stjørdal.
While it sounds like the camel is taking his own initiative, it does make one wonder, as back in April this year, a few llamas also went on the lam from the same circus.
As Digital Journal reported, they escaped from Circus Arnardo in Tøyenparken and toured the smartest part of town for a while before being recaptured. In that article it was mentioned that four camels had escaped from the very same circus in mid-March while they were stopped over in Arendal.
It does tend to make one think that these daring escapes could be part of an original and innovative publicity stunt.
