Charleston - An unidentified woman in Charleston, West Virginia, killed an attacker with his own gun. It turns out that the man was a serial killer.
The woman placed an escort ad on the website Backpage, and a man by the name of Neal Falls, 45, answered the ad. Eventually, Falls showed up at the woman's apartment but she said she realized something was wrong shortly after he arrived last Saturday.
The woman said she knew Falls was there to kill her. She also said that he had already done something because he told her that he was going to head to jail for a long time and that's when she knew he was going to try to kill her.
A neighbor of the woman called police and told them that there was a lady in the alley. The caller said that the woman said a man (Falls) tried to rape her, so she defended herself and shot him.
When police arrived at the scene, they searched Falls' vehicle and inside of it they found a bullet-proof vest, a shovel, hammer, some knives and axes, as well as some bleach. Police suspect that he may have attacked others.
Police said that if Falls did this in West Virginia, then he probably did it somewhere else. Police in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio, are going to send a detective to Charleston to see if there is a connection between missing persons in the Chillicothe area.
The women in Chillicothe went missing over a period of a year, and rumors were going around that a serial killer may have been responsible. Police said that some of the women were sex workers and were addicted to drugs.
Police contacted the FBI and Falls' DNA was entered into a national crime database to see if any matches would pop up.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing and families of the missing women will have to wait for answers.
