Woman accused of posting selfies while wearing stolen dress

By Kevin Fitzgerald     Jul 21, 2014 in Crime
West Frankfort - Police in Illinois arrested a woman after they say she stole a dress from a local clothing and jewelry boutique and posted a picture of herself wearing the illicit apparel online.
According to Yahoo! News, police arrested Danielle Saxton, 27, after police were called in to investigate the theft from the store, which allegedly occurred on July 11.
Gawker reports that Kert Williams, who co-owns the store, posted images of the missing dress on Facebook to see if anyone had information about the crime.
Users of the social media site quickly recognized the dress after seeing the pictures posted by Saxton.
Gawker goes on to quote a police chief as saying:
"We just had a description and a direction of travel, but when the social media aspect played into it, we were able to identify who it was. And by looking at the background of the photograph we were able to pinpoint where she was at."
CJME.com states that Saxton was released from jail on her own recognizance shortly after being arrested. She is expected to face misdemeanor charges for retail theft.
