Watch alleged killer try to grab cop’s gun in interrogation room

Thomas Robinson, 23, was arrested and is accused of killing one man and wounding another. Cincinnati.com reports Robinson is alleged to have shot and killed a 17-year-old boy and wounded another person on June 16. The second victim was taken to hospital as is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It is further alleged when Robinson was arrested five days later he was in possession of a loaded handgun and some heroin. According to court documents, Robinson struck an officer while being handcuffed, leading the cop to suffer injuries to his lip and face.

Robinson was then taken to a police station and placed in an interrogation room. A video taken of the room at that time was obtained and uploaded by Live Leak.

The beginning of the video shows Robinson sitting behind a table in the room with his left hand handcuffed to his chair. An officer, later identified as James Ball, walks in, walks behind Robinson, bends down and appears to be either adjusting or removing the prisoner’s handcuffs. Robinson, sitting still, then can be seen looking at the officer’s gun while he is bending down.

After a few seconds, Robinson can be seen grabbing Ball’s gun with his free right hand and then standing up, his left hand still cuffed to the chair. A struggle ensues and other officers can be seen entering the room. One officer tases Robinson in the back but it seems to have no effect. Another officer then tases him in the chest, causing him to fall and appear unconscious as he is finally subdued.

While fighting the officers, Robinson can be heard in the video yelling, “Kill me, kill me,” leading to the possibility Robinson was attempting to commit “suicide by cop.” Police will not say whether or not they believe this is what he was trying to do.

Cincinnati Police Lt. Steve Saunders praised the officers involved for using their skills and training in difficult circumstances and for using two Tasers rather than resorting to deadly force.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Robinson is facing counts of murder, weapon while under a disability, aggravated robbery, assault and drug abuse. He is also charged with attempting to grab the officer’s gun and assault on Ball.

Bail set for Robinson is in excess of $1.7 million. And it is possible he may face an attempted murder charge trying to take the officer’s gun.
