A woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told Digital Journal, “there’s a dead body in that car. My daughter found him. She’s the one that called 911.” The woman also said her daughter, who works at the Safeway down the street on 72nd, saw the man sitting in his car and appeared to be sleeping.
Several hours later, she noticed the man was still sitting there and had not moved or changed positions. She called the police, saying the man had been there at least three hours or more.
The Toyota Avalon was found in the parking lot on the corner of 72nd Street and Golden Given Road near the 72nd Street Professional Center in the Midland area of unincorporated Pierce County. The front of the vehicle is smashed in on the passanger side and both the front and back license plates are missing from the vehicle.
Pierce County Sherriff and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue were first to respond to the call and the man was pronounced deceased. He has not yet been identified and, at the request of the medical examiner, images of the man are not being posted until a positive identification can be made and any next of kin properly notified.
At this time, very little information is available as to the man’s identity, the cause of death or how long the man had been sitting in the car deceased before a concerned citizen reported the incident. Pierce County’s medical examiner and the Pierce County Sheriff are currently investigating.
Updates will be added here as more information is made available.
