Shots fired at Lil Wayne home…but police now say it was a hoax

Multiple media reported that Miami police received a call from a person who said he was in the home on La Gorce Island and intended to start a firefight with police. The caller said four people in the home had been shot. Police and ambulances immediately rushed to the scene.

Police said they looked through every room in the 10-bedroom house and found no one hurt and no evidence of a shooting of any kind. While the drama was unfolding it was reported Lil Wayne was not at home. Later he tweeted: ”Prank kall mane (sic).”

This follows on the heels of an incident 11-days ago outside the $9.4 million property. In that incident, at 3 a.m. on a Saturday, a call to police said that a suspicious person was lurking outside the home. Police later said they spoke to a person but did not take him into custody because he was on private property and committing no offense.

It is not known if these two incidents are related.

There are conflicting reports surrounding today’s incident. Some reports said the person who called police had been inside the home. However, local station WSVN reported that the person who made the call was outside it and that one shot had actually been heard. Police said that they do not know who made the call and are continuing to investigate; they are, however, calling it a hoax.

The 32-year-old Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., has four children, each by a different mother. He has been charged with various drug offences and ‘Weezy’ once spent eight months in jail at Rikers Island for attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

He has released 11 albums and in the U.S. alone has sold 150 million copies.
