Salvation Army worker allegedly exposed himself to a 4-year-old

It is not a typical day when holiday cheer and flashing go together but just that appeared to happen in Kingsport, Tennessee.

According to information learned in a report obtained by the Smoking Gun, Cops were dispatched Thursday afternoon to a Food City outlet in Kingsport after a man called 911 to report that a Salvation Army volunteer had “lifted up his red apron” and exposed his genitalia, which the suspect had “pulled out from the inside of his pants.”

The Huffington Post goes more in depth, quoting the report, “As he sat there, I observed his left hand slide under the red apron he was wearing, and move toward his groin,” the report said. “His left hand moved in a manner that appeared as if he was fondling himself over several minutes. This act continued as customers, including children, entered and exited the store.”

The child, who is 4 years old, did not see the man, William Martin, expose himself, according to the child’s father.

Although surveillance cameras could not prove that Martin, 61, did in fact expose himself, he later admitted the act and has now been charged with indecent exposure. He was arraigned on Friday. Martin claims that he did not intend to expose himself.

In addition to the misdemeanor charge, he was banned from all Food City stores, according to the Kingsport, Tennessee, Times News.

According to the Salvation Army, Martin and his wife have been longtime volunteers with the charity.
