The Itar-Tass news agency in Russia reports that the country's lower parliamentary house has passed a law banning swearing in films, concerts, the theatre and other art. Further, citizens will be fined for swearing (2500 rubles, or about 70 bucks).
The parliamentarians also decided a panel of "experts" in swearing will be charged with deciding what exactly is a swear word and what is not. The lawmakers did not specify what would make someone an expert in profanity.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will get involved if the bill is passed by the Upper House. Once that happens, Mr. Putin will be the one to sign it into law, on July 1st, 2014.
In April of 2013 laws forbidding swearing in the media in Russia were passed.
